Hi, I Had A Recent Vertigo Attack (BPPV) Back In

Question: Hi, I had a recent vertigo attack (BPPV) back in January of this year, i have since had vestibular issues when it comes to my vision. Florescent lights seem to make things a little worse, but i have this feeling of being "off" since the incident. I saw an ENT, had an audiologist test my hearing, physical therapy for my balance, head CT scan and i have not gotten any answers. I get this weird feeling of being spaced out, and it has been hard to focus. This seems to come and go but it is getting to the point where i am getting more concerned. Sometimes loud noises make it worse, i always feel like i have to point my head down every so often. I feel like i have some short term memory loss as well. I don't have any dizzy episodes. My ENT suggested i see a neurologist or a ophthalmologist. I am 23 years old with no other health problems.

Brief Answer:
Such symptoms may be explained by inner ear conditions such as vertigo.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.

I have read your query.

Inner ear conditions such as vertigo may cause symptoms like yours even for long periods.

There is no reason to have short term memory problems in such cases, except if this situation is causing significant stress or anxiety to you.

You could see a Neurologist in order to understand better your condition, but, in my opinion, a brain MRI (far more sensitive than CT) is necessary as well.

If no problems after such evaluations, then the stress or anxiety is playing a major role in your symptoms.

I hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
