Hi. I Developed A Very Large Bruise Under My Arm

Question: Hi. I developed a very large bruise under my arm that is very painful to the touch. I started very small and grew to a very large, paw print shaped purple bruise and is very painful to the touch. The side of my rib is pain to the touch where the bruise is. Also, under my right shoulder blade hurts and is causing some pain down the right side of my body. The bruise came on suddenly in the last day or two and the other pain has been there for a couple of weeks. Do you have any idea what is doing this before I go to the doctor? I don't remember injuring myself on the right side.

Hi
Usually, bruise occurs after trauma.It reduces gradually in course of time.If it is not reduced, Ultrasound of the area should be done for any possible collection (Haematoma).
If Haematoma is confirmed,it has to be drained surgically.
In your case,as there is no history of trauma,causes of spontaneous bleeding should be investigated.Investigations like Bleeding time, Clotting time,Partial Thromboplastin time etc should be done.
Please consult a Physician and proceed further.
