Hi, I Am Experiencing Some Really Bad Heart Palpitations, Where
Question: Hi,
I am experiencing some really bad heart palpitations, where it feels like either my heart stops and then jumps a couple beats, or it is normal and then randomly jumps a beat. I have chronic Lyme disease, and am worried about Lyme carditis. I used to experience the palpitations when I was younger, but not this extreme or for this long. I'm not sure when to be worried or not. I live in Alaska, so health care here isn't great, and if I go to the ER at the hospital here complaining about my symptoms, I won't get far, especially if I mention the Lyme disease. Any thoughts would be great.

Hello
After going through the medical query raised by you I can understand your concern for your health and well-being and I would like to tell you that lyme carditis is a very rare complication of lymes disease.
Although palpitations is a very common and importance in terms of lyme carditis but it’s important to confirm the diagnosis as it is completely curable.
Confirmation is done with the help of few blood tests and cardiac MRI for which you have to go to tertiary care Centre.
So as of now I would like to suggest you to discuss this issue with your primary treating doctor and see what he can help you with.
Kind Regards
