Question: Hi, I am a 67 yr. old female. I suffer from chronic pain. I am prescribed 15 to 20 mg. of Oxycodone 5-325 mg. daily and I have been taking it regularly for the last 3 yrs. I have never abused the medication and it helps get me through the day. I am currently on vacation and this is my last evening. I miscalculated how much I brought with me. I took 2 of the four pills I normally take and I ran out. My sister-in-law who we are staying with is prescribed Tylenol with codeine for dry socket. I am already feeling the pain and am wondering if it would be ok if I took one of her Tylenol to get me through the evening and possibly through the night.

Brief Answer:
yes, it can be used

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, you can use it. Codeine is in the same family as oxycodone though it is not as strong for some persons. It should reduce the degree of discomfort that you are experiencing.
Because it is in the same drug family, there should be no or only mild difference in any side effects between the codeine and oxycodone

You can use the combination tylenol and codeine as a temporary replacement till you are able to get your normal medication.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
