Question: Hi Doctor, this is Muse. Continued from our last conversation I, please disregard the previous question. I accidentally submitted it before writing.
**I just wanted to tell you something I recently found out, and I wanted to hear your opinion.
*I recently requested my medical history report, and I found something that I can't explain. In 2017, when all the constipation and abdominal pain started, I went to a doctor and got checked. One of the tests was abdominal CT scan. The doctor told me that she will call me if there are any concerns from the test. I didn't get any call, which I assumed, everything was fine. Now after I got the report, the CT scan report says " Colon full of Feces" which is a rephrased version of "Fecal Impaction." So I am concerned with this statement. I believe the Doctor never saw or checked the CT result. I should have gotten some sort of laxative or something to clean the colon.
* Now I am afraid, after 2 years, this issue might have gotten worse. What do you think of this result that I Just found out? It is from 2017. Do you think the rifaximin I just started taking will help it?
* Do you think the result could lead to more severe or life threatening Illness? I was reading on WebMD and what they talk about Fecal Impaction is very scary. Please tell me your thoughts..
Thank you Dr.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for a Direct query,
Have seen your query in details my dear patient,
Definitely yes the doctor missed or have not read your CT report 2 years back.
Defecation is a process which is result of rhythmic strong contraction and relaxation of muscles on rectum and large intestines.
Impaction is suggestive of fact that some thing is definitely wrong in the complete process.

As you have already lost two years you should go for colonoscopy test immediately.
This test would help to see if there is problem in muscle moments in intestine.
Along with it a MRI abdomen should be planned to rule out nerve or blood supply problem.

The results are usually not life threatening however as your case has been malhandled recovery may take more time or even a surgical correction could be done....Depending on reports.

No Rifaximin is a drug kept reserved for patients of Irritable bowel syndrome...No role in your case...Please stop it sir.

The more we delay the diagnosis and treatment of a particular disease chances of complication increases therefore get the tests done and revert back to me.
Stop Rifaximin.
Start a probiotic like VSl#3 twice daily.

Hope I was helpful,
Revert back with reports.
Thank you.
