Hi Doctor I Just Want To Know I Hepatitis B
I just want to know I Hepatitis B test at 66 days conclusive? Mine came back negative after exposure of deep kissing, no sexual involvement
The reason i ask is because I have been having joint pain in toes and fingers, i did blood test and my urea level was high, can high Urea level cause joint pain?
My uric acid, ESR and c reactive protein were normal, my liver and kidney function test normal except UREA it was 7.8
Regards XXXXXXX
pain can be due to urea.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for choosing Ask a Doctor service for your query,
Have gone through your query as well as other queries in details,
Before giving an explaination lets conclude you are Hepatitis B negative.Period!
Theory-
There is a six to nine week(at the maximum) period right after infection when serology of person test positive for HBsAg post infection(exposure).
Secondly getting hepatitis B by deep kissing is rare(as said by other doctors too).It needs sexual intercourse(oral anal or vaginal) or blood transfusion.
Yes higher levels of urea could cause joint pain and for that you need to consult an endocrinologist but as far as Hepatitis B is concerned you are negative(100%).

Thank you for the reply, I'm just curious, why do some doctors state 12 weeks?
The CDC website agrees with your answer and so do other sources I checked
CDC states "HBsAg will be detected in an infected person's blood an average of 4 weeks (range: 1–9 weeks) after exposure to the virus"
I just don't understand why some doctors state 12 weeks?

Maximum 4-6 weeks you would be positive except you are one in million case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again my dear,
See golden rule of medicine is that there is no rule.
All these time tenure etc are defined by conducting researches on a group of individuals in very large number.
Ideal range is the one showed in 95% of people however in rest 5% persons this range could increase or decrease this is called 95 percentile.
Various literature would show various time periods however as a matter of fact an infected individual would show serological tests positive in 4-6 weeks.
Secondly in your case it's deep kissing which is not a way by which hep B is communicated. Its just like saying HIV can be communicated by eating food with with infected person which indeed is not possible.
What I have mentioned is written in standard literature(Harrison's medicine) which is the most reliable book of a medical graduate.
Any website can mention any thing they have a disclaimer at the end that text and details may vary but standard text book is written only after proving things.
One can't consider a patient to be one in one million(exceptional presentation).
Hope you understand what I said.
Just relax calm down your nerves.
It's not Hepatitis.
Hepatitis would effect your liver not your joints as primary symptom.
Thanks you.
