Hi Doc, Its Been A Week Since My 3months Old
Question: Hi Doc, Its been a week since my 3months old daughter had passed motion, she passes lot of gas though but not motion. we change 3-4 failry heavy diapers everyday. she s completely on mother's milk. Could you please suggest if this is normal and what should we do so that she passes motion.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that for a baby of this age, it is normal to pass stool once in 10 days. Alternatively the child may pass stool several times a day or even after each feed and that is normal too. Unless the stool is hard and pellet like, you need not grow concerned. It is also normal to pass green stool or a combination of yellow stool. You have no reason to worry especially because the child is exclusively breast fed. Please continue it till 6 months of age.
If the child passes urine more than 6 times in 24 hours, it indicates that the feeds are adequate. If not, you need to increase the amount of breast feed.

Thank you doctor. But what shall i do in case she doesn't pass motion even after 10 days??also,she gets irritated whenever i try to massage her stomach , does that mean she has any trouble there
