Hi. Can You Please Review My MRI Results And Tell
Question: Hi. Can you please review my MRI results and tell me if surgery is recommened or if there are any benefits to surgery verses PT? My Dr wants PT but I am 43 yearsold and I want the fix to the problem to be permanent and I want the issue corrected. I would like a 2nd opinion. In addition, my pain has been getting worse over the past few weeks and now my shoulder is popping if I lift my arm. Is that normal?

Hi there
Thanks for the query
Looking as your scans it appears that you have early degenerative changes of the rotator cuff tendons.
This does not require surgery unless the AC joint arthritis is scratching the tendons but it doesn't appear so.
You could undergo arthroscopic debridement of AC joint osteophytes to reduce scratching of the sharp osteophytes on the tendons but surgery at this stage won't change the outcome significantly.
Physiotherapy will suffice.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, those findings can occur in degeneration. 70-90% of partial years go to full recovery with lesser pain scores than those treated with operation.
Therapy could last from 4-8 months.
