Hello. Of Course This Would Happen On A Holiday Weekend

default
Posted on Sat, 6 Feb 2021
Question: Hello. Of course this would happen on a holiday weekend but yesterday, on Friday, I noticed something that I can only describe as a type of purr coming from the left side of my chest when I breathe in. I can feel it more than hear it. It feels as if I could clear it with a forced cough but there isn't any phlegm. I have slight congestion and nasal drip in general due to chronic nasal/allergy issues but this is entirely new. I don't have a fever, I don't have any issues breathing, no pain, no chest pain, no cold/flu symptoms. Of course, there are no appointments to see a doctor till Tuesday. Anyone around to help me this weekend?" Thank you

I should say that I don't feel it all the time. Just when I'm sitting still, say typing on a computer, for example.

Brief Answer:
Can be common cold or allergies causing it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think that this purr on chest may be caused due to mucus present in airways possibly in upper airways such trachea. The congestion may be caused by allergies or just a common cold.
You may need to drink XXXXXXX tea also keep air humidified with its steam. Do gargling and rinse nose with saline solution.
Keep a warm cloth on chest. Also try coughing this mucus out.
No need to worry much.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
