Brief Answer:
Follow these precautions. Get an Xray for fracture, dislocation. Medication

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for the query.

Has your wife gotten an ankle Xray?

Does she twist the ankle?

Is any bone exposed at the ankle wound?

I have read your query and reviewed the attached photograph. It appears that she has sustained wound on the ankle region. There does not appear to be much swelling.

In the setting of road traffic accidents, it is best to get a thorough evaluation of the injuries and also required Xrays and related investigations to rule out severe ankle sprain, ankle Fractures or dislocation.

As of now she can keep the legs elevated over a couple of pillows. She can apply a dry, cold pack to the painful region for pain relief. If she isn't on any medication, she can take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days after meals and Tablet Rantac 150mg twice a week for 5 days ,half an hour before meals. These measures shall give her considerable relief. In the meantime, kindly get an Xray done of her ankle joint. Avoid her putting any weight on the affected ankle for about 10 days.

Kindly answer my queries for me to have a better understanding of the injury and guide you in the right direction for her diagnosis and treatment.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Dr. Aashish Raghu

Brief Answer:
No fracture

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for uploading the reports.

I do not see any obvious bony injury or fracture. You can rest your concerns for the same. She has some soft tissue swelling which is why she has the pain.

Let her keep the leg elevated on a pillow, apply ice, take pain killers. In a week she should be fine.
