Brief Answer:
It should be 24 hours of procedure.

Detailed Answer:
Hi lorettalaway,
Thanks for the query.I have read it & understand your concern.
Xeralto being a blood thinner, should be stopped at least 24 hours before surgery...this is to prevent excessive bleeding during the procedure.
You are going to be operated on 3rd of September..so you should theoretically stop taking the drug minimum 24 hours before the procedure on 2nd of September.
Time of withdrawing also depends on gravity of your problem for which it has been advise ,type of surgery you are placed for...so the exact personal advise would be decided by your operating surgeon. Please follow any specific deviation from routine..according to his advise.
I hope that answers your query.Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks

My surgeon said ask my primary care doctor. Whom is out of town. Do I need another blood thinner to replace the Xeralto before surgery? If so what and could you get me a prescription for it? I had a knee replacement about 6 yes ago and I was told to stop Xeralto 3 days before surgery and was placed on something like lovenox, an injection, for tthree days. days.

Brief Answer:
Explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Lorettalaway,
Thanks for the follow-up query.

Yes, each surgery needs different schedule for blood thinner management. As advised earlier, you should stick to the regime, for he is well versed with your health & the surgery to be undertaken.

Xeralto and Novenox both are blood thinners...As we discussed before, Xeralto should be discontinued to prevent excessive bleeding during the procedure.

Lovenox is to prevent deep vein thrombosis postoperatively..so it is preferred in patients who would need bed rest after surgery...

I am very sorry to inform you, that doctors are not authorized to prescribe medicines online ...so I am afraid you would need to arrange &get it prescribed from a local doctor, who can examine you, see your reports beforehand.

I hope you understand my problem.
Any more information you want, please ask.
Regards
