Hello! My Husband Has Experienced Hip Pain For Quite A
Question: Hello! My husband has experienced hip pain for quite a few years now and he finally had an X-ray performed. The pain is on his right side. I’m attaching some images of the X-ray along with the radiologist report. Can you please take a look and let me know your thoughts? The report mentions abnormal sclerosis and cyst formation..,are those anything to worry about or are they just part of the osteoarthritis? (The “abnormal” and “cyst” language made me worry, lol! Thank you!

Hi Dr. Ragu! Thank you for your assistance! I’m re attaching copies of the X-ray film and also the report.
So can you possibly give me reassurance that there is nothing worrisome in terms of bone cancer...that is just appears to be degenerative changes and arthritis?
Also I read about something called femoroacetabular impingement, cam type....after looking at the X-ray picture do you feel that may be the case and would warrant arthroscopy?

So just three more questions and I will leave you alone, lol: I know you're somewhat limited in that you only have the x-ray image to work off of, but what would be your grading of the damage at this point -- moderate or severe? And finally, would you suggest a possible hip replacement at this point in time (he's 53 years old), or waiting until his pain is severely limiting his lifestyle (I know they keep coming up with more advanced surgical techniques as time goes on)? Will damage continue to be created at a fast pace? Thank you again for EVERYTHING!!
