Question: Hello, I'm a very young 55 but, I have high blood pressure and I am out of pills. I have no insurance. That is not the only problem. My brother who was my best friend committed suicide and I did not handle it well. I am now suffering from Alcohol withdrawal. I don't want to drink anymore. I am afraid to stop cold turkey as a lot can happen. I have black stools, sometime diarrhea, sometimes not. Zero appetite. Drink a lot of water but, at time the heart burn is bad. When I have a glass of water with turmeric it mostly goes away. I am in the 24 hour zone of withdrawal. Today though over a 5 hour period because I am scared to just stop I had a 12 ounce glass of water and vodka. Probably 3 oz. of vodka and 9 ounces of water which is what I always drink. Things seemed to settle down. As I said I am in Florida and am now unemployed and no Insurance. I work on boat and this is standard. It is a tough industry right now.

I am sorry for your brother and your situation. I think you have to stop alcohol immediately and also under doctor`s supervision.
You should stop it immediately and you need to be evaluated by fibroscopy of stomach because gastroduodenal ulcer is suspected since you had black stools, melena, and heartburn.
Also, you need medical attention because stopping alcohol can raise blood pressure and since you are just suffering from hypertension it can go very high.
You should take drugs that lower blood pressure.
