Hello, I%E2%80%99ve Had These Bumps In My Both Shoulders Pretty

Question: Hello,

I%E2%80%99ve had these bumps in my both shoulders pretty symmetrically for as long as I remember. I probably got them as a cause of (maybe a bit too) severe working out at gym when I started at around 16 years old. I%E2%80%99m 27 now. I also used to do martial arts which I%E2%80%99ve since quitted some years ago. I%E2%80%99ve been to a doctor few times related to the issue and even got myself an X-ray image for the shoulders when I was around 20, but according to these past visits there shouldn%E2%80%99t be too much to worry about and surgery won%E2%80%99t be a choice if there%E2%80%99s no pain included.

However apart from looking ugly, my shoulders snap and crack alot everytime I rotate them or lift my arms. As mentioned, there is no pain included (except in the case when I sleep on my side and get up in the morning and my shoulders feel and look super stiff) but the snapping and cracking still can%E2%80%99t be that healthy, can it? I%E2%80%99m afraid the tips of these separated bones(?) rubbing eachother will eventually wear off and make my shoulders loose or in the worst case cause arthisis etc. Is this a possible scenario? Also, I love exercising ( have pretty healthy lifestyle in general) but I%E2%80%99m not sure what type of sports would be best for my shoulders and what type of excercising would actually benefit my shoulders. Is there any way for me to treat them/ make them look better in time?

Sorry for a long message, but I feel like I%E2%80%99ve been stressing about this issue way too long and still haven%E2%80%99t found a proper answer on how to cope with it. I think it%E2%80%99s finally time to make a change; thank you very much for your time/answers already beforehand!

Brief Answer:
Possible acromioclavicular subluxation

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome. First, it may be chronic actomioclavicular subluxation which may have been result of repeating injuries or sports that you have been doing. Second, it may be teared capsule of acromioclavicular joint and subsequent fluid accumulation in it. And third, it may be sign of some type of arthritis but it would ho with pain and redness. Those combat sports are definitely something that should be avoided, as well as weigh lifting. But swimming, yoga, and stretching exercises may be beneficial.
Rtg is nonspecific in these cases, and MRI would be much better option. It would show both bones, ligaments and tendons in this area. It will not cause arthritis since this rarely happens for this joint, but if pain occur, you should see orthopedic surgeon. There are some surgical options to treat this with Kirchner wires or capsule stabilization but it should be left as last option. I hope is helped, feel free to ask further questions.
