Brief Answer:
Health concern should not be health anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Dear friend. thanks for the question. Anxiety and panic attacks do produce some weird symptoms. Usually anxiety and panic attacks symptoms include fast heart beat, restlessness, uneasy feeling, feeling of doom, sweating etc. In some cases physical pain including neck pain, chest pain, stomach ache, head ache can be noted. In many cases, trembling of hands also noted. All these symptoms are naturally, body's natural defense mechanism. This defense mechanism is termed "fight or flight symptoms". These symptoms are produced by adrenaline named hormone which is injected into your blood stream when your body suspects threat to itself.

Once adrenaline is released, body works faster and gets itself ready for self-defense. Self-defense process is a lengthy and systematic and energy consuming process. So it is natural that after having anxiety or panic attack, the body and mind feel fatigued.

Here, I wish to point out something else. I went through your previous questions in this same platform. I think you are too much worried about STDs and generally your health. As you specified today, your health anxiety must have been the reason for your present anxiety attacks. Please tell me if there are any other reasons.

You should be concerned about health. But never anxious about health.

I suggest systematic counseling, Cognitive Behavior Therapy to overcome your health anxiety and general anxiety problems. Relaxation breathing and physical exercise also should gelp.

Take care

I have just felt stressed lately, just started a new job and I think that could be contributing to it. I just feel very weak especially in the middle of the night when I wake up and my arm feels tired and my neck has stiffness and chest has muscle spasms. Its something I have never had before and its scary. I think that it could be the worse things possible.

Brief Answer:
Try stress management

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend. Yes. It is possible due to recent continuous stress, the symptoms are being presented. And because of those symptoms (tired arms, neck stiffness and chest muscle spasms) you could be feeling more and more anxious and worried. These anxiety and worry further results in stress response (fight or flight response) which further triggers the symptoms. This is a cycle.

For you I suggest, stress management for the time being.

1. Outdoor Physical exercise or outdoor games for one hour daily.
2. Relaxation breathing exercise (like pranayama) twice daily for 15 minutes
3. Try to change your perception about your job and stress. Like you are learning a new thing or style which will be extremely beneficial for your future.
4. Spend some time in children park, beach etc where you will feel relaxed.
5. Try guided imagery and relaxation.

Try these stress management methods for 15 days. I request you to follow up after 15 days. Take care

Brief Answer:
Don't worry too much and break the cycle.

Detailed Answer:
Dear friend. My reply is based on the assumption that you have anxiety and stress related problems and health anxiety. In such a condition, where no other physical illness is diagnosed, the presented symptoms are normal and can be there for days together. Just because of the cycle I mentioned in the previous answer.

I hope that you have had all the medical checkups physically and ruled out any clinical illness conditions related to the presented symptoms. If YES, these presented conditions are due to stress, anxiety and health concerns. If NO. Do consult a doctor in person to get yourself checked for physical issues.

For you I suggest, stress management for the time being.

1. Outdoor Physical exercise or outdoor games for one hour daily.

Brief Answer:
You have health anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Dear friend. Thanks for the follow up.

By MS, are you mentioning Multiple sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis is a central nervous system manifestation. MS has a variable and unpredictable course, with symptoms that can include weakness, visual loss, bowel and bladder incontinence, fatigue, cognitive impairment and mood symptoms. I don't think you have MS.

But I am sure you have health anxiety. Please follow the guidelines given in my last reply. Follow it for 10 days and if you come back to me I will provide more CBT tips.

Take care
