Hello Doctor I Had A C-section Delivery On 9th Dec

Question: Hello Doctor

I had a c-section delivery on 9th Dec 2019. I have a few concerns, if you could help:

1. My post-partum bleeding is still ongoing. during the last few weeks, it has reduced a couple of times, but has increased back again. There are times when just a panty liner is enough and other days when I end up using 2 pads a day. When should I expect the bleeding to end?

2. If I sleep on my left with the right side of the body in the air, my stomach area on the right side, just above the hip feels like it has fallen down. It causes a lot of discomfort, such that over the last few weeks I am forced to sleep on my right every time. How to fix this?

3. Can I now start exercising? If yes, what type of exercises can I begin with?

4. There is itching near the incision area. I have been applying coconut oil, but it%E2%80%99s not going away. How to solve it?

5. Can I now start having sex?

Thankyou

Brief Answer:
Detailed Gynecological check-up recommended...

Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...

Coming straight to your queries:

1. Although some amount of bleeding/spotting is seen in the post-partum period, this type of persistence needs to be examined by the Gynecologist in person...further blood investigations (complete hemogram, hormonal assay, coagulation profile, etc.) along with ultrasound scan may also be required depending on the findings...

2. The operating Gynecologist is the best person to discuss this as post-surgically different patients experience different sets of symptoms and treatment measures vary largely from person to person...

3. Only free hand exercises, stretching of arms and legs, yoga and meditation can be recommended as of now, do not overexert yourself...

4. If itching is unbearable, you can take tablet Levocetirizine 5mg at bedtime but if it persists, get the area examined by the Gynec (in case infected, antibiotics therapy is needed)...

5. Not now, the bleeding and associated symptoms need to be properly examined first.

Hope this is clear...not to worry, but don't delay any longer and get examined thoroughly by the Gynecologist...

Take Care
Kind Regards
