Hello Doctor, I Am Having Skin Irritation After The Hair

default
Posted on Sat, 3 Aug 2019
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am having skin irritation after the hair cut and shave. Normally, i will not do shave at salon. Having small red beads near the neck, forehead and one or two in fore arms. Getting the itchy symptoms on head as well. I am under the impression that some kind of parasite is disturbing and causing the skin irritation.

Visited Doctor and Dr has identified the issue as Folicular Infection and informed me that some hair is growing inwards or some bacteria is entering through the sweat pores and causing this issue.

Dr has suggested the following medicines.
1) Tablet Doxy Red LB and in the pharmacy i got the tablet Doxy 1 L Dr Forte.
2) PhysioGEL AI Lotion

I have been taking the tablet for the last 8 days, however i am still facing the same itchy situation. In the meantime, 1 have also taken blood and urine tests based on Dr Recommendation. I found that the EOSINOPHILS is on the higher side and googling shows that it could be some Parasitic infection or Allergy or symptoms of cancer.

Requesting you to please refer the blood report and requesting you to please suggest for any test that i need to undergo for the skin problem.

Brief Answer:
Pseudofolliculitis and its management

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached report.
You seem to be having pseudofolliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicles due to ingrown hair.
Your eosinophil count is mildly increased which indicates you are allergic.
This much rise in count doesn’t suggest cancer or parasitic infection.
I would recommend you to take capsule doxycycline 100 mg ( cap codox) once daily for 3 weeks, apply cream containing steroid antibiotic combination like mometasone and fusidic acid( momate F cream) on the affected areas twice and take antihistaminic like tablet fexofenadine 180 mg ( Tab Allegra ) once daily for 2 weeks.
Also use an electric trimmer for shaving and try to leave 1mm length of hair while shaving so that there is no ingrown hair formation.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
