Question: Hello Doctor,
I, XXXXXXX SUBBA, WAS SUFFERING FROM COLD SINCE LAST 10 DAYS. AT THIS MOMENT, I ONLY HAVE LITTLE COUGH. THERE IS NO FEVER, COLD AND OTHER SYMPTOMS. YESTERDAY, I DID MY RTPCR AND TODAY I RECEIVED POSITIVE RESULT WITH CT VALUE OF 20. PLEASE SUGGEST WHAT TO DO NOW.

Hello XXXXXXX SUBBA,

I have read your query, and understand your health concern.

I am sorry you tested positive for RTPCR with CT value of 20.

Please do not panic. You need to take symptomatic treatment, and be under home isolation for next 7 to 10 days.

Symptomatic treatment would include:

- Over the counter cough syrup like Corex or Kofarest cough syrup 10ml twice daily after food. If this is not available over the counter, please get it prescribed by your doctor.

- Tablet paracetamol or Dolo 650mg every 4 hours for next 4 to 5 days after food.

- Tablet Cetrizine 10mg twice daily after food for 3 days.

- Tablet Vitamin C to be chewed thrice daily anytime.

- Tablet Zinc 20mg twice daily after food.

- Consume freshly prepared food. Maintain hydration. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

- Keep your room well ventilated.

- Avoid or reduce smoking, if you do.

Be under home isolation for next 7 to 10 days.

Doctor, I have been taking Montek LC at night and Fourts B and Limcee once a day since 3 days. Is it ok? should I add other medicines to them or should I change them?

You can continue to take Monket LC at night, Fourts B and Limcee once a day for next 7 to 10 days. You may add tablet Zinc 20mg to these medicines, along with Paracetamol if you have fever. Else, your current medications are fine.

You can stop Montek LC now, if you do not have cold and cough.
