Question: Hello, 33, Male, generally healthy and in good shape at 157 lbs, 5'9",etc.

Shortly after waking up this morning I noticed a painful swelling on my right breast behind the nipple. The pain was somewhat moderate this morning but is now not very painful at all (I have been taking advil today.)

There is no hard lump present, the swollen area feels slightly rubbery, it is tender to the touch right around the side left of my "areola?" Factors that could be contributing: I consistently to interval pushups, in last few days I purchased an inversion table and have been using it regularly for inversion and inverted sit-ups which is a new regimen for me. Also I have been drinking more beer or lighter alcoholic drinks the last few months (White Claw). But other than that no other obvious symptoms to match, no shortness of breath or fatigue or anything, etc. I've noticed no discharges or anything from the nipple or surrounding area, only slight redness probably from me messing with it.

My fiance suspects I may have simply injured myself while working out, but this new development is troubling and would like to see if there is further insight available. Thanks!

Hi.
Thanks for your query.

Please give additional information for me to assist you better:
Attach clear and focused photos in JPEG format with this query in front and lateral (side) positions.
What is the size of the area?
Is this happening for the first time?

Hold the exercises for some time.
Continue Advil at least three times a day after food and with a PPI like Omeprazole if there is acidity.
Do not fondle the area.
Do not apply anything locally.

I hope this answer helps you.

Thank you for your prompt response. The size of it as best I can tell is roughly the size I am holding in the last photo. Regarding details I am not certain what else to provide. The swelling seems to approach the surface of my skin, but protrudes deeper than the surface. The swelling seems to want to surface close to where my nipple is on the left closer to where the redness is occurring, it almost feels as if I could XXXXXXX the area to relieve fluid pressure from it.

I will discontinue fondling the area, but to be clear, are you asking me to discontinue all chest excersize for the immediate future?

[My PPO with Kaiser Permanente is unable to see me until early XXXXXXX so I appreciate the rapid response. What is your immediate opinion of this medical issue?]

And for further insight my fiance is an RN. While I realize that this does not replace the thoughts and opinions of a trained physician, I felt that this was also worth noting

Brief Answer:
As discussed

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback and photos.
These are clearly showing the inflammation of the XXXXXXX glands of nipple and the inflammation just behind the nipple; spreads easily due to fat contents.
This is great to know that your Fiance is a RN which can help us both.
I would advise you the following:
Take Advil three times a day.
If Serratiopetidase 10 mg is an OTC in your country take this too. take these for 5 days and give feedback with fresh photos.
Antibiotic is needed only if there is evidence of an active infection. Which antibiotics suit you?
Which country are you in? Covid-19 lock-down?

Since there is no palpable lump, no need to worry much at the moment.
The exercises will stretch the chest muscle on which the swelling is present hence better to hold on.

USA California. Thank you for you reassurance. And I am able to see physician but it will take time, yes we have been locked down.

Is this something related to Covid19 in your opinion? She is on a 12 hour shift tonight so no chance of any answer from her for now.
