Question: I had some black specks, like pepper, in my stool. Yesterday, I ate several large black olives. I wondered if that could effect my stool.

Hi,

Welcome to XXXXXXX

Canned black olives may contain iron in the form of ferrous sulfate.

Iron salts can make stool darker/blackish.

Black specks in the stool can be undigested pieces of black olives.

If black specks continue to come in your stools without eating black olives, please get your stool tested for routine and occult blood.

If you have further query in this regard, please feel free to ask.

With good wishes,
