Have Had Epididymis Cysts For About 5 Years What It Implies

Posted on Wed, 28 Feb 2024
Question: Hi, we have had epididymis cysts for about 5 years. I have had 3 ultrasounds in the 5 years and all come back saying normal and I have cysts. My left epididymis feels 2-3 times bigger than the right, at each end feels like I have a lump coming of it. It hasn’t changed I’m the 5 years I have had it. The ultrasound report doesn’t say anything about this. Is this something I should follow up or because the ultrasound said it was ok don’t worry? If it was something serious it would of changed and developed in the 5 years I have had this. All my blood tests are normal. Just giving me anxiety and why the report didn’t mention that my left epididymis is bigger. When they say I have cysts is that what it implies?

Brief Answer:
Epididymis Cyst is benign in nature and not to be worried about .

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Based on the factys that you have posted you seem to have a cysts in your epididymis detectd on Ultrasound scanning of Scrotum .

The Epididymal Cysts are always benign in nature and occur due to accumulation od spermatic fluid in Epididymis .They are always benign in nature and not to be worried about ,

As regards your doubt about your left Epididymis being larger than Right .I would state that in evry individual Testicles are not identicle on both sides and one is always slightly larger than its counterpart.and nothing to be worried about as long as there is no pathological or anotomical abnormality detected on scanning .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Ok thanks. The 3 ultrasounds would of shown if something was wrong?
My left epididymis feels like it has an extra part coming of it.
Having it for 5 years and hasn’t changed and ultrasound says clear it will be nothing to worry about? I would be sick by now if it was bad? Also that it’s in the epididymis it won’t be serious or turn bad?

Thanks. The epididymis head feels swollen and tender, twice as big as other one. Is this from cyst as well?
If the problems in the epididymis I can leave it? Had it 5 years, only causes little bit of discomfort every now and then.
I don’t need to keep doing ultrasounds as well?
