Question: Good evening, I am 63 years of age and I have Liver cirrhosis brought on by fatty liver. I am now taking lactulose 30 gram/15 mL solution 2 to 3 times a day. Will this meditation have a negative affect on my Liver? (ammonia lab test was 114))

One more Meditation that I have taken over the last 6 days. I may have read something with concerns, that it might not be good for the liver? Amoxicillin clay 2 times a day 875 mg

Could you please let me know your thoughs on these meds.

Thank You Kindly

Sincerely,

Brief Answer:
Lactulose and Rifaxamin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks of choosing HealthcareMagic for your query,
Have seen your details,

Answers are
Lactulose is used to reduce the amount of ammonia in the blood of patients with liver disease. It works by drawing ammonia from the blood into the colon where it is removed from the body. Hence it is given.

Secondly Rifaximin 550 mg and not amoxy clauv should be taken in case of hepatic encephalopathy.

Lactulose life long.
Rifaximin 4-6 months.
Discuss this with your doctor.
Thank you.
