Dry Mouth And Lips Is It Due To Anxiety/stress Or Possibility Of HIV?
Question: Hi doctor,
I had protected sex with community sex worker, 3months back while having sex I kissed her and one small opened wound of mine was touched by her with bare hand she didn't had any cuts/wound.she was lactating but I don't remember I sucked drops of her breast milk if so (1-2drops)which I heard no problem for adults. It was my first exposure and last too.Later I was worried and took 4th generation rapid test at 28,43,49 and 84days and 3rd generation tridot rapid tests at 46,53,59,65, 72, 80,90 and 97days all tests are negative. In between after 10days of exposure I had quitted cigarette,alcohal and non veg foods.previously I was prone to get GERD sometimes feel lump in throat after quitting cigarette I got more burps and caused very dry throat and then I got resolved after 10days without any treatment and later on 40 th day of the exposure I had dry mouth and post nasal drip after ,few days of later I got dry lips too and frequent ulcers in mouth. On 92 day I have tested for Hcv/syphilis/hbsag rapid tests all were negative.but as of now I just have dry mouth and lips is it due to anxiety/stress or possibility of hiv. I am very much worried please let me know. Other than this I don't have anyother Symptoms.

Your HIV tests 12 weeks after and beyond came as nonreactive for HIV as well tests for HCV/Syphilis/HBS Ag.
Simply forget the incident. All the tests available in the market are highly reliable more than 99% (especially with regards to 4th generation tests). When it is with two different types of HIV tests came as nonreactive, it amounts to 100% reliable as per WHO. So you are free from HIV/STIs. You don't need any more tests for HIV/STIs.
All your symptoms can occur to anyone without HIV. If the symptoms are persisting and annoying consult your physician and get well soon. If you have problem in forgetting that incident seek the help of a psychiatrist. You will be alright.

Once I had talked to physician he told the symptoms are might be by stress/fear but while I was googling I was I am in doubt of hsv which my gp told that not necessary because you don't have any blister around mouth or genital and hsv incubation period is less than 2 weeks and you had dry mouth after 40days.And he asked to take ssri and multivitamin which I neglected at that time.You can prescribe.
And in many cases/queries few people will have white tongue/dry mouth even after year of testing negative for hiv scares me because is there any strain that is not taken by any of present tests.please confirm.

There is no such entity in HIV disease which can exist in the presence of negative HIV test reports with 4th generation reports 12 weeks after the exposure.
