Question: Dr --

1. i seem to have soreness in my left knee lately
2. it is most apparent when i get up from a seated position
3. or when i am sitting on the floor and i get up from a seated position
4. the knee seems to get tight & sore when i stretch my leg
5. i walk everyday about 2 miles -- that may be a contributing case but i am not sure

Usually getting up after sitting or cross leg position can cause pain in knees with early arthritis.

If you have not had any trauma before to knee then arthritis due to wear and tear is a possible cause.

Avoid cross leg sitting and squatting as much as you can. This will reduce the stress on the knees.

Apply warm wet cloth to the knee as hot fomentation for relief. You can get an xray of the involved knee to confirm if it is arthritis. Take Paracetamol 650mg three times a day for 5 days for pain relief.
