default
Posted on Thu, 27 Apr 2017
Question: I bought a couple of bottles of turmeric from Science Natrals. It also includes bioperine. I am not sure I know what that is. Since taking this I have noticed a difference in my shoulder and my knee pain. How long will I have to take this supplement?

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern/query and after reviewing the product and ingredient I'm of the following opinion:

1. As Turmeric is a natural inflammatory herb but clinical research has sshowed that 'curcumin' is poorly absorbed by the body whereas Bioperine [piperine] obtained from black pepper fruits is said to enhance the bioavailability of nutrients by 30% [in which they are mixed], and helpful to restore imbalance of Vata,Pitta and Kapha [i.e it acts an anti inflammatory, anti tumor, and as an anti oxidant ]

PS reason of getting benefit in knee/shoulder pain, you may search for 'Trikatu'

2. Since very limited human studies have been published thus long term usage and dosage cannot be very well established [although this product complies to good manufacturing practices guidelines]
