Does Swallowing Metal Piece Accidentally Cause Any Internal Injury?

Question: Hi Doctor,
I had a metal tooth crown(on back lower tooth) fixed around 25 months back. When i was chewing on some food, it came off and in attempt for me to retrieve it i accidentally swallowed!! Since it is metal, is there any risk of internal injury of my digestive tract and tne system?

Hi.

Thanks for writing in.

As such there is no damage even if you have digested a metal cap.
You need to take bananas & plenty of water, so that it gets excreted through stools.
Still if you have any problems, please go for ultrasound & consult a physician.

I was concerned if the metal would actually be digested. Yea i am drinking lot of water.

Need not worry.
It is too small & will be excreted through stools. Just have banana.
In case of stomachache go for ultrasound.
