Does Sarcoidosis Run In Families?

Posted on Tue, 29 Dec 2015
Question: Hello. Ihave a quetion. A boney growth , of small demention (is size of tic tac) has come and gone. Its tender to touch and I too had same issue on my wrist. U was told to see Rhemetologist. She never put two and two together andafter years of being told i had FM and CFIDs, which I may or may not have, I was diagnosed via biopsy positive for Sarcoidosis. I'm extremely concerned as she is now 26, and I became ill at age 31 and deemed permanently disabled. She is a grad student and has so much life ahead of her...I want to know what possibly may cause such a thing. Another thing, her father dodn't put her on medical plan. She is uninsured. It's Kaiser and honestly it's substandard cre for my illnesses. They really suck, and I have experienced active Sarcoidosis now for over a year with no relief. So, I know they will need alittle help from us if she is to get diagnostic services, if needed and proper treatment.

Brief Answer:
Bony growth

Detailed Answer:
Good evening there

I have gone through your history. I am just a little confused and would like to ask you a few more queries to sort things out and be able to guide you further:

1. Where exactly was the bony growth...? u didnt mention the site, so I am confused. At times it can be mechanical, other times it can be due to some arthritis.

2. Does it cause pain also or some other sort of discomfort?

3. Does she have any symptoms like fever/fatigue/joint pains/joint swelling?

4. Any blood tests did she get done??or Chest X Rays?

I dont think you should be worried too much. Sarcoid normally doesnt have a familial transmission as such. I am sorry about the delay in diagnosis in your case, but we can be a bit alert and work up relevant things in your daughter as well

Await your reply
