Question: HI i have a query regarding my penis size i am feeling very awkward to discuss though i have doubt about my penis size. I am 25 years old and my penis size is 2.2 inch in flaccid state and 5.1 inch in erect state i would like to know that is it a good size because i have read somewhere that 6 inch is normal size and i also know that size doesn't shouldn't matter as only 2,3 inch of female vagina is sensitive. But all these are basically science and science doesn't reflect the real world situation who said that size doesn't matter have they asked any girl that size doesn't matter? I don't even understand the doctor theory that penis size is genetically determined but they haven't made clear that what is genetic so far my knowledge is concern that it can come from any side like from mother side or from father side as i know that no two son of same father have same penis size how? There are so many things in medicine and science which we don't know like the penis size of same brother. So doctors are finished the job by saying that it was genetically determined there many cosmetic surgery available but doctors haven't been prescribing that from here i don't understand about these doctors mentality

Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing in to us. I understand your dilemma with the amount of information and opinions including those given by doctors regarding penis size and it being controlled by genetic factors. At first I would like to re confirm that your penis size of 2.2 inches when flaccid and 5.1 inches on erection is normal for an Indian male to satisfy his female partner. Regarding erect penis measurements, following documented studies have been done with findings as follows: 1. In a study of eighty healthy males published in the September 1996 Journal of Urology an average erect penis length of 12.9 cm (5.1 in) was measured. The purpose of the study was to “provide guidelines of penile length and circumference to assist in counseling patients considering penile augmentation.” Erection was pharmacologically induced in 80 physically normal American men (varying ethnicity, average age 54). It was concluded: “Neither patient age nor size of the flaccid penis accurately predicted erectile length.” 2. A study published in the December 2000 International Journal of Impotence Research found that average erect penis length in 50 Jewish Caucasian males was 13.6 cm (5.4 in) (measured by staff). Quote: "The aim of this prospective study was to identify clinical and engineering parameters of the flaccid penis for prediction of penile size during erection." Erection was pharmacologically induced in 50 Jewish Caucasian patients who had been evaluated for erectile dysfunction (average age 47±14y). Patients with penis abnormalities or whose ED could be attributed to more than one psychological origin were omitted from the study. 3. A review published in the 2007 issue of BJU International showed the average erect penis length to be 14–16 cm (5.5–6.3 in) and girth to be 12–13 cm (4.7–5.1 in). The paper compared results of twelve studies conducted on different populations in several countries. Various methods of measurements were included in the review. 4. An Italian study of about 3,300 men concluded that stretched length was measured on average to about 12.5 centimetres (4.9 in). In addition, they also checked for correlations in a random subset of the sample consisting of 325 men. They found a few statistically significant Spearman's correlations: between flaccid length and height of 0.208, –0.140 with weight, and –0.238 with BMI, flaccid circumference and height 0.156, stretched length and height 0.221, weight –0.136, BMI –0.169. They also reported a few non-significant correlations. Talking about effect of genetics on penis size, there are certain genes like homeobox (Hox a and d) genes which may have a role in regulating penis size. There is also In humans, the AR gene located on the X chromosome at Xq11-12 which may determine the penis size. Deficiency of pituitary growth hormone and/or gonadotropins, mild degrees of androgen insensitivity can cause small penis size in males and is treated with can be addressed with growth hormone or testosterone treatment in early childhood. So you can see that there is influence of genetics on penis size among other factors like the environment. Cosmetic surgery is a commercial application of medical science for aesthetic purposes and beauty. It is more for the appearance and is to address the psychology of patients. childhood. Hi i would like to differ add you some point here not only my penis length but also the girth and testicle is small it looks like a 7 year boy testicle and i don't think that this is due to genetics if that so then why my smaller brother have bigger penis than as the genes come from the same mother and father. I would like to go for phalloplasty surgery if i want then i don't even understand the doctor mentality of course there may be some side effect but it is my life and i m fully responsible for that, I beg to differ with u some point here as u mentioned the statics but these have done in foreign country and you know there medical science is much more better than us have study conducted on Indian male penis size have any Indian women have said that size doesn't matter i don't think so. U said if there some certain hormones deficiency then the penis would not grow properly but what if someone penis grow slightly and then stop before puberty than these doctor suggest to to wait till the end of puberty and when the puberty end he might not noticed any changes then these doctor saying that if the treatment would have taken earlier than the result could have been better here what a common guy understood? The doctors finished their job by saying that this is genetic factor nothing can be done as u know nothing is impossible in this world. There certain things in medical science that nobody knows.

Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing back with an update. I searched and found one Indian study on penis size in Indian men done in 2007 by a doctor from Kerala. He says and I quote "Penile length in flaccid and stretched conditions and circumference were measured in a group of 301 physically normal men. Erected length and circumference were measured for 93 subjects. Mean flaccid length was found to be 8.21 cm, mean stretched length 10.88 cm and circumference 9.14 cm. Mean erected length was found to be 13.01 cm and erected circumference was 11.46 cm." So mean erected length of Indian penis is 13.01 cms or 5.1 inches which is what you have. So please do not worry about length. You can see the article at the link given below WWW.WWWW.WW Regarding genetics, it is not must that your brother or uncle or father have same penis size. The genes expressed vary from person to person and the DNA in genes are different in you and your brother and sometimes even in twins. Coming to the argument on doctors delaying treatment and then saying that it must have been treated earlier, all doctors do not have the same knowledge. Nowadays there doctors known as andrologists who deal with problems on male genitals and male sexuality. If one consults such a specialist doctor there are less chances of misdiagnosis and wrong treatment. Yes, you are an adult and responsible for decisions that you take on your health. I request you to discuss the matter openly with your doctor and what are the expected end results. All procedures carry some risk so you must be aware of that. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr,Vivek

Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing back with an update. I have seen the photograph and the length is normal. The girth also looks normal by Indian standards. The testes are important only for sperm production and other than that their size is not of any concern as long it is in normal limits and I feel your testes volume is normal. Non surgical treatment for increase in size (both length and girth of penis) is got by doing certain exercises called Jelquing. This should done only as necessary and too much force must be avoided else it can damage the penis permanently. Though these exercises are seen to work in many, some men may not have desired results. The ratio of the length of a man’s index finger to that of his ring finger may seem like a strange thing to measure, but new research suggests that it’s linked with penis size. The lower the ratio, the longer the penis. The early morning erection is a normal event in males. Likely a combination of testosterone levels and bedtime brain activity, these are caused by specific neuroreflexes that are stimulated during REM sleep. It is because the nerves in the penis release nitrous oxide which dilates nearby blood vessels, increasing blood flow and leading to an erection. I assure you that there will be no problem in your sexual life. You must do more foreplay with your partner. Girls do not think of size of penis throughout sex. They are more interested in a comfortable and pleasurable sex. Longer penis can cause difficulty and pain in females sometimes which can lead to bad sex. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr,Vivek
