Question: if i used the miniville patch, and it came off and i put another one on the second day could this cause a surge in the hormone and cause slight spotting?

Brief Answer:
Disruption in hormone can cause spotting.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

For spotting or period bleeding to occur, two things have to happen:
1. Enough estrogen to build up the uterine lining.
2. A drop in that estrogen, causing the lining to shed and bleed.

So you had both of these things happen. If you have been using miniville, it has stimulated the lining enough so that when it was off for a day, the hormone level dropped and caused spotting.

So the spotting isn't from a surge of hormone when you put the patch back on but rather from the drop in hormone when you had it off.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.

I had the first patch on for a day but the second one I put on immediately cuz the first one came off in shower. So is that extra hormones? I started spotting a few days later. How long could this go on?

Brief Answer:
Still, spotting is from drop in hormones.

Detailed Answer:
From your description, I think you may have received a slight increase in hormones, since the patch is not usually changed until 3-4 days, but it wouldn't be a big increase. Might have been just enough to build up the lining a bit more and now you are shedding it. It's hard to know how long the spotting will go on. The amount of hormones you are getting may be just enough to keep you in this build up/break down limbo, or your body may get used to it and stop spotting. Time will show whether this is going to continue for you.
