first off, my doctor took me risperdal and zyprexia around january or early february. and then started taking prolixin (1 mg), cogentin (0.5 mg), and klonopin (0.5 mg). I be talking to myself, hitting myself, and having bad thoughts in my head. i havent came on my period since march.

Hi her dad here I didn t know her meds had been changed. when she was taking the risperdal she was hitting herself and having the bad thoughts, hitting herself, and talking to herself so those things XXXXXXX t changed her complaint about the menstrual problems started while taking risperdal which she started taking during high school, 2004. she said she started having menstrual problems when she was 20 years old. she started taking risperdal at 18 yrs of age. and now shes taking the new drugs and the problem is still the same, not coming on her menstrual cycle at all.

Brief Answer:
change of drug, gynecologist opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Thanks for the details.

Prolixin and risperidal both can cause menstrual irregularities.
Since she has not responded on risperdal, there is no use in taking this drug.
Zyprexa rarely causes menstrual disturbances. But has caused problems in her.

So, the other drug options are seroquel (quetiapine), abilify (aripiprazole) and blonanserine.

These are also antipsychotic drugs with very less propensity of causing menstrual problem.

You can discuss this with your doctor.

Also, consult a gynecologist for menstrual disturbances. It is of utmost importance to determine the cause of menstrual irregularities other then medicines.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask further.
Thanks.
