Does Oxerute-CD Have Side Effects Connected To Its Prolonged Use?
Question: I am 58 years old and after my menopause about 6/7 years ago have been inflicted with varicose veins- very painful. I have recently been prescribed Oxerute CD tabs which have been very helpful in
A) relieving the pain in both my calves and upper thighs, and
B) reducing the bulging blue veins which were prominent in both my legs.
Please advise:
1) whether there are any side effects connected with prolonged use of the above medication?
2) whether surgical intervention will now not be required as had been advised by some Vascular doctors?
3) whether this medicine would have to be taken life long?

The side effects of oxerute are nausea, skin rash, diarrhoea , increased bleeding from wound etc. These are minor side effects. Not necessarily happens to all. You need to discontinue If you get skin rashes and diarrhoea.
As you are responding well to medication no need to go for surgery now. As recurrence chances are more after surgery also. You need to continue the medication till the veins become normal (not necessarily life long) along with stockings and avoiding long time standing.
