Does Omnic Cause Reduction Of Penile Tumescence?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: I am experiencing weak and soft penis for over a month now which has also led to weak erection. I usually get aroused very fast and masturbate any time its possible, but for the past 1 month its been very bad and thinking of arousal gives me headache.

Before this i had a very bad low back pain which had an effect on my bowel and urinary system for some odd reason. To treat my urinary tract the doctor gave me a medicine called Omnic and after taking the medicine for two days,i felt my penis became weak. I am confused if its the medicine or over masturabtion that has caused this now. Should i stop masturabting for sometime? Is there any medice to cure this?? The back pain is ok now, MRI scan showed a mild bulge in L4-L5 disc compressing my L4 nerve root. Can this be a reason also??? Pls help...i am really depressed these days.

Brief Answer:
Omnic can cause reduction of penile tumescence...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query. I will try my best to help you with this problem.

Omnic (tamsulosin) can cause retrograde ejaculation and relax the sphincter of the bladder. Apart from this, it reduces the peripheral blood pressure. The fall in the peripheral blood pressure along with reduction in the elasticity of the bladder sphincter is the chief cause of loss of penile tumescence.

The vertebral compression has nothing to do with loss of penile tumescence.

Do not worry! This is a transient problem. The tumescence will regain once the effect of the drug wears off. Avoid masturbation for few days. Drink plenty of water, do exercises as advised by your doctor, you will definitely feel better.

Hope I have answered your query; revert back to me if you have any follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Kegel's exercises...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

Kegel's exercise is good in improving the strength of the sensitive muscles of the penis and bladder sphincter. It is a very simple exercise, wherein you need to hold the muscles of the perineum for few seconds and relax it. This is done the same way as you try to hold the stream of urine while you micturinate and then release it. You can do this exercise whenever you are free, while sitting in a chair and lying down but, not during micturition.

Hope this clears your doubts. I wish you good health and speedy recovery.

Thank you for the advise doctor. There one more thing i want to ask you, its about the pelvic floor muscles. I was reading about the Kegel's exersice in the internet and it said it is for the pelvic muscles that are Hypotonic( weak pelvic floor muscles).
What i am experiencing is Hypertonic (tight) muscles since the symptoms are similar, that is i have problem starting my urine stream, pain in the low back and rectum region and i feel constipated also.

I understand your advise was for the first problem i shared with you, but doctor i think this is the root cause of everything i have experienced till now. There is more pain in my rectum region than the low back region.

Physiothrapy is suggested and i think i will get that done very soon. Your views pls doctor..can you help on this?

Brief Answer:
Continue with physiotherapy...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome back

Tamsulosin help in relaxation of the perineal muscles and especially around the bladder and the prostate gland.

I suggested the Kegel's exercises to tone up the sensitive muscles in the penile shaft and the base, which was relaxed by the intake of Tamsulosin. I was unaware of your other problems.

Please continue with the physiotherapy as advised (for your spine problem) and meanwhile, continue with Kegle's exercises when required.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. I wish you good health and good luck.
