Does Norco Interact With Tylenol?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jun 2017
Question: I was using Norco 10mg Tylenol 325 mg. I signed a pain management agreement not to use marijuana and I told my Doctor I have a Michigan Marijuana Card. I'm not using an illegal drug. He said it is federally illegal. Is it up to the Doctor to decide if I can get Norco or not if I use medical marijuana or the DEA?

Brief Answer:
Doctors have the right to refuse refills

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern. The reason why you were asked to sign an agreement not to use marijuana while on Norco is the interaction and potentiated side effects when the two drugs are used together, so what the doctor might have meant is that it may be federally illegal to use marijuana while on opiate drugs such as Norco (hydrocodone).
If you have a Marijuana Card you are not using an illegal drug, however, it is considered a violation of the agreement you signed to continue smoking while on Norco, and the doctor has the right and authority to refuse the refill.
The DEA would only get involved in case you were using a drug that is considered illegal, which you are not.
I am not aware with your medical history, but you should be able to decide which drug you want to use for the pain and stick to it. if you think Norco is the best option, you may return to your doctor after the Marijuana is cleared from your system and renew the agreement.

I hope this answers your question.
If you have further questions I would be happy to answer them.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
