Does Celexa, Gabapentin And Wellbutrin Cause Agitation While Asleep?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Mar 2015
Question: I am currently on 60 mg celexa, 600 mg of gabapentin, 1 tablet lenoltec no 3, celebrex 400mg, 50 mg of amitriptyline, 40 mg pantoloc, 7.5mg of immovane as well as 150mg of wellbutrin. I take all of these meds together at bedtime. I don't know -because I am asleep but my husband is at the end of his rope because I am very agitated in my sleep. Apparently I am kicking and elbowing him in the back and in the face and he is unable to get any sleep himself plus the next day he is sore because of my thrashing around! Please help me! Do you think it would help if I was taking some of these meds in the morning perhaps?

Brief Answer:
Pantoloc, celebrex and half dose of celexa in morning

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

All drugs at a time may cause some some gastric discomfort as well as much interaction in absorption as well as after absorption. These much drugs at night may be causing restlessness.

The best approach is to take the medicines at time as your doctor has mentioned in prescription. If your prescription mentions that take all medicines at night then I am not agree on that.

If I were your treating doctor I wold like to change Pantoloc(for acidity),celebrex(for pain) and half dose of celexa(for depression) in morning preferably.Wellbutrin also can be shifted to morning or noon dose.

Inform and discuss to your treating doctor also if you are going to change the schedule of the medicines.

However after changing drug schedule if your problem persists, evaluation is needed.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

I am going to make these changes as soon as I can see my Dr. here I don't realize that I am being this mean to my husband. I have knocked out some of his teeth when I am sleeping and last night I elbowed him the eye and he has a black eye today. I am praying that by splitting my meds between morning and night. I feel so good on this cocktail of meds that I am terrified to change them but I cant keep beating the crap out of husband in my sleep!

These physical abusiveness might be due to medicine induced delirium

Hi XXXXXXX

These much medicines at a time together may cause delirium(state of mind lasting for minutes to hours in which person is not aware about his surrounding and behave in odd manner). This may be possibility in your case.

However after changing schedule of medicines within 5 days this problem not solved, detail evaluation to be done by doctor for such abnormal behavior in sleep.

No need to worry about your psychiatric problem, we are not reducing medicines just time is changed.
