Does Cartia-XT Interact With Flowmax?
Question: Ihave been taking Cartia XT 300 mg for several years. Now a doctor asked me to add flowmax for the next month or so. However, I am afraid of the interaction between the two. Is there a reasonable balance or a better alternative ?

There is a risk for interactions between cartia xt and flomax. Cartia can decrease the breakdown of flomax, therefore potentially increase the risk of side effects.
The effects may not necessarily occur in everyone but close monitoring is needed if the combination is used.
The options would be to use finasteride which may also help with prostatic disease. There is also a risk of interaction here with cartia xt but it not be as major.
The only other options would be: (A) dose adjustment of the cartia, there is only one dose of flomax so this cannot be changed
(b)not using the meds for prostate related problems
(c)switching the cartia to another agent
