Does Amoxicillin Interact With Birth Control Pills?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: On amoxicillin for an ear infection, and I also have the flu, had sex last night and my boyfriend pulled out 20 seconds before he ejaculated, today is my last dose of amoxicillin. I am on Gildess FE 1/20 and have taken it religiously. Do I need plan B? My Gyno has said that my birth control is working very well in me because I do not have a period every month. Will I get pregnant from antibiotics and pulling out method?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for trusting health care magic
Nothing to worry about as it is fine with almost negligible chances of pregnancy.
But from next time use condoms instead of pulling out.
Take care

Thank you very much. Is it true that antibiotics make birth control less effective?

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Yes dear they definitely make birth control ineffective by blocking their reabsorption from the gut.
But since you have been taking it since a long time and he withdrew before ejaculation so chances are negligible
