Question: Doctor,
I am 33 years old, female, married for 3 years, weighing around 81 kg. I started noticing variations in my regular periods when I was around 21 years old ,when I put on weight and reached 70kg from 65kg. Since then I have experienced problems like heavy bleeding, irregular periods and absence of periods. I also have high prolactin levels ranging from 50 to 80. I took Cabergoline after consulting endocrinologist but as soon as I stopped the medicine the prolactin levels increased. I have polycystic ovaries and I have also undergone a laparaoscopy for right ovarian cyst removal. Now I don't have any cysts. I have tried taking 3 months birth control pills for regulating periods after visiting Gynaecologist, at first I used to get regular periods for about 3 or 4 months after taking pills. But now I don't get my periods at all for several months. I have low haemoglobin level also. After 1 year of my marriage I became pregnant and had an abortion during first month itself. Now I don't get my periods at all and I am getting anxious if I would get back my periods. Also I tend to eat a lot due to my anxiety. I had reduced my weight but at times I get anxious ,eat a lot and regain weight. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Need to be under regular follow up

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Greetings
I can understand your situation.
pcos and high prolactin can cause irregular periods.
There is no harm in continuing cabergolin if prolactin is not very high.
If you are planning for pregnancy ovulation induction has to be done under the guidance if an infertility specialist and necessary steps has to be taken .waiting will not improve your condition of pcos as far as fertility is concerned
modifying life style is the only way to control your weight.Dieting and regular exercises will help you. Also avoid sugar and junk foods.

Thank you for the reply doctor.
Is it possible that I could get my regular periods back if I reduced my weight and is there a chance my pcos be gone in the future. I am planning to consult an infertility specialist as soon as possible.

Brief Answer:
You can control pcos

Detailed Answer:
Hi
You can DEFENETLY control pcos and ovulation if you try to reduce your weight.
Most important point is to try for pregnancy at the earliest but consulting an infertility specialist. waiting for normal conception may not be wise now. Wishing you best of luck.
