Do Wood Ticks Cause Lyme Disease?
Question: Hi - My friend is in Manitoba and was covered with wood ticks. Do these ticks cause lyme disease and should he be tested. XXXX

I would like to tell you that ordinary wood ticks and dog ticks do not carry the infection and do not cause Lyme disease. It is deer ticks which causes infection. But if your friend develops flu like symptoms in 2-3 weeks then evaluation is needed.
