Do Regular Blood Test Results Come Out Normal When Suufering From HIV?
Question: Hi there, is there a possibility to have hiv if your regular blood test came out to be normal as well as your liver, kidney, complete blood count and etc... or if you have hiv then it will effect any of the stated results?
Also could you have hiv after 12 years of a specific u protected sex with someone and still have no symptoms of hiv?

Hi there.
Yes it is possible to have all other tests' normal & still acqire HIV. Having said that, this is only true for those who are HIV positive but do not manifest with AIDS & are a small percentage approx. 5%.
HIV is an infection that leads to an immunodeficiency & manifests with AIDS. HIV & AIDS are not necessarily synonymous.
Even if HIV infected, if the immunity is kept up, one can go on for years with a good quality of life. Magic XXXXXXX the USA basketball player of yesteryears is a good example of one who has overcome the odds & lives on almost some 2 decades after first getting to know he was positive!
As for your second question, highly unlikely albeit the incubation period for HIV is still a touch unknown. If regular tests of a basic ELISA have been done at least 6 weeks after the contact & done at 6 month intervals between two tests & have been negative, you can rest easy.
Please let go of the past Ghosts & move on. The help of a good clinical psychologist or counsellor near you will surely help in this regard.

your answer is very contradiction, you just said completely three opposite and confusing answers for my question, please clarify
you first said : "Nothing to worry about in your case"

What's Elisa, I never stated anything about basic Elisa nor I stated negative.
I said I did a normal lab test complete blood picture and count, liver and kidney function, ige and etc....

notice: I live in Egypt where hiv is less than 1% of population, plus white blood count is normal, plus I gained weight 5 kg this year and don't have loss of appetite while I don't take any HIV medication for help

I was merely answering each of your queries...hence the confusion.
I assumed when you meant 'regular' blood tests' you had included the Elisa for HIV as it is a standard blood test now for almost every job application etc. Elisa for HIV is a method for screening for HIV virus.
Now that you have clarified, let me state that those tests that you have done simply indicate a state of well being or not & have no bearing on your HIV status...this is what I meant when I said it is possible to have HIV when labs are normal (other routine labs & general health status)
However, if they are normal (the tests you have done so far) & you are physically all OK, then by extrapolation, your health is FINE & you are unlikely to have the virus.
The 'prevalence' of HIV or any ailment on a population does not have any bearing on the 'incidence' of the same.
The contact you had was years ago & theoretically, if you have never tested, it is perhaps prudent to do a lab test Elisa for HIV & put aside all fears.
