Do Testosterone Injections Cause False Positive Tests For Cocaine?

Question: my husband took a drug test for probation and tested positive fore cocaine, which he has not done any, he has had back surgery gone wrong, he takes oxycodone, xanax, ondansetron, oBRIOEzole, he has also had two heart attachs and takes simvastatin, metoprolol ER, Clopidogerel and sertrline. Because of hisacronic back pain in 2013 he had a pain pump put in it has Fyentonel, Baclofen Bububavan, alsuo, 1/2014 he inturreped a robbery and was shot with a 44 Deseret Eagle, bullet went in left hip and exited left thigh, we were lucky it was a clean in & out......He has ED on occasion he takes testestorone injections and thier version of vigara. Could the testestorone & hard on pills cause the false positive? He has also been suffering with allegerys and taken mussinex advil and some other OTC? HELP

Hi

I can understand your concern and I am really feel sorry for the chronic health problems of your husband.

As such false positive tests for cocaine can be be seen in patients who take amoxycillin /penicillin group of drugs, local anaesthetics (except lidocaine & novacaine),diabetics, liver diseases, kidney diseases, coca intake & nti-psychotics (that too because of common metabolite factor).

There is no evidence that proves testosterone & hard-on pills will cause a false positive cocaine test.

In his case it can be due to sertaline (minimal chances of anti-psychotics & anti-depressants)
or due to deranged liver functions (possible due to chronic drug intake especially simvastatin).
Opiods (oxycodone, fentanyl) intake has no false positive cocaine tests.
