Question: I cleaned my ears last Monday, and felt that I might have touched something on the right ear..but felt fine...at like 2am , I felt dizzy and then at 6 am... When I opened my eyes the room was spinning like 50 miles per houR... Then was ok... On Sunday, morning..I woke up to a violent spinning room. And have been off balance ever since.. Last night my friend did the epley maneuver and felt so much better..this morning the room did not spin but still feel slightly imbalance...what happened to me...I never ever got dizzy in my life!!!!

Brief Answer: Benign Paroxysmal Posiitional Vertigo. Consult ENT Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome to XXXXXXX Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query and understand your concern. What you had and having now is called Vertigo. Vertigo occurs when there is conflict between the signals sent to the brain by various balance- and position-sensing systems of the body. There are very few causes for vertigo. 1. Benign paroxysmal Positional Vertigo ( BPPV). It is very common cause of the Vertigo and it can be easily treated with Canalith repositioning. As you felt better after Epley maneuver, you most probably have BPPV. It is not a serious disease and can be easily treated as i said above. The canalith repositioning procedure consists of several simple and slow maneuvers for positioning your head. The goal is to move particles from the fluid-filled semicircular canals of your inner ear into a tiny bag-like open area (vestibule) that houses one of the otolith organs (utricle) in your inner ear where these particles don't cause trouble and are more easily resorbed. This can be done for two or more times to get corrected. Your treating Otorhinolaringologist know well about this. Please consult him and get treated. Few other possibilities of vertigo are Labrinthytis and Menieres disease. But these are associated with hearing difficulty and ringing in ear respectively. Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr.Manjeth XXXXXXX

Brief Answer: No. It is not brain cancer. MRI or CT brain. Detailed Answer: Hello, No. It is a not a brain tumor or cancer. The usual brain tumor symptoms are 1. seizure 2. Gradual loss of movement or sensation in an arm or leg 3. Unsteadiness or imbalance, especially if it is associated with HEADACHE 4. Loss of vision in one or both eyes, especially if the vision loss is more peripheral 5. Double vision, especially if it is associated with headache 6. Hearing loss with or without dizziness 7. Speech difficulty of gradual onset So do not get worried. It is a Simple Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. In most of the people, BPPV goes away by itself in a few weeks. If possible consider MRI and CT brain to rule out any brain tumour. But it is not necessary now. As per your ENT doctor advise, please do hearing test after a week and review with him. Please consult a Psychiatrist for ESP. Because ESP is still a controversial phenomenon. Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr.Manjeth XXXXXXX G

Brief Answer: Disregard my last statement... Detailed Answer: Hello, I thought you meant Extrasensory perception (ESP) - a special sense beyond vision, hearing, smell, touch and taste; when you mentioned ESP in your previous query. I apologize for misreading that. There disregard my last statement about consulting a psychiatrist. Hope this helps, Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr.Manjeth XXXXXXX G

Brief Answer: No.This is not a feature of Stoke or Cancer. Detailed Answer: Hello, Please do not get worried about the symptoms. It is usual to have nauseating feeling in Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. These symptoms clear away within several weeks or months. However, after the symptoms have gone, some people have recurrences of symptoms months or years later. Please follow my advise 1. Consult an ENT Surgeon and have Epley maneuver again then Do not lie flat for 48 hours. During this time sleep sitting in a chair. Do not lie on the affected side for one week. Ideally, try to avoid bending over (such as to tie shoelaces) for a week . If this failed, Discuss with your treating ENT physician about Brandt-Daroff exercises. This will be helpful in failed cases. Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries. Wishing you good health.
