Question: Did a HIV 1&2 antibodies screening test, serum at DR lal path labs. It was HIV 1/2&P24 combo test (CMIA) after 11 and 15 weeks of my potential exposure and both results came out negative.
1)Is this a fourth generation elisa test and am I out of the window period for this test to give an accurate and reliable result?
2)Is this test conclusive and I had no infection from my potential exposure?
3)Should i take any other sensitive test like western blot or pcr/rna viral load test for confirmation?
4)AM I 100% HIV NEGATIVE?? And I should not worry about it in my life further and can resume my normal life as earlier?

Stress and anxiety has parlaysed my mind and I cant stop thinking about it please help me.
Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV infection as per your test report.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Yes, you had undergone the 4th generation COMBO test for HIV. It is highly reliable to the extent of 99% as it detects both HIV antigen and Antibodies against HIV. Moreover you had tested after the completion of HIV window period for antibody test also. So your test is very much reliable.
As you had two nonreactive test by 11 and 15 weeks after the risky contact your result is very much confirmatory and conclusive almost to the extent of 100%. No further test for HIV is necessary.
You can continue your normal activities without any hesitancy.
Have a great day.

Hi Sir,
If you can answer my following questions as well
1) As per your answer I have interpreted that “I DO NOT HAVE HIV INFECTION AND I AM HIV NEGATIVE” as both my test results are negative and these results are beyond the window period as well. Am i correct that “I AM HIV NEGATIVE”..??
2)Sir in your answer you have stated that my results is very much confirmatory and conclusive to almost an extent of 100% Is it not 100% correct is there any error in result and i should get retested again for a confirmed result for HIV negative conclusion?
3)Should i be relived and stree free at this point of time after 2 negative HIV test and forget this and move ahead in life as I do not have any “HIV INFECTION AND I AM HIV NEGATIVE AND HEALTHY AND NORMAL LIKE EARLIER”..?

Please help me sir i get anxiety and stress due to this day and night and i get worried please assure me that everything is ok and I do have HIV disease

Thanks and Regards

Hi,
Welcome back.
Once again medicine is not mathematics to get constant answer. Doctors are not almighty. He/she can predict the probabilities only. If we had ruled out any type of error in the reporting system, your results are ultimate and you are free from HIV.
In my opinion, You would not need any further tests for HIV. You are free from HIV.
