Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I reviewed carefully your father blood lab tests and would explain as follows:

- borderline high HbA1c,indicative of pre diabetes, probably related to steroids
- borderline low protein levels.
- vitamin D deficiency.

For this reason I would recommend taking just vitamin D supplements and some diet modifications ( low sugar) to help reduce HBA1C levels.

Regarding TIA, I would recommend performing some other tests to investigate for the possible causes:

- a cardiac ultrasound and resting ECG
- a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries to investigate for possible atherosclerotic plaques
- An ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring may be necessary in case of suspicion on a possible cardiac arrhythmia.

In the meantime I would recommend taking daily baby aspirin for the prevention of possible stroke.

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!
