Brief Answer:
No risk of HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Protected sex is safe as far as risk of transmission of HIV is concerned. Moreover HIV doesn't pass through skin even if you had a minor scratch or break in the skin at the point of contact. You are safe.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Brief Answer:
Regarding STDs

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
HIV is transmitted only through unprotected sex (vaginal, anal or oral sex) where there is exchange of infected genital secretions or contact with infected genital mucosa. Other ways of transmission are through sharing needles as in drug abusers, through placenta and breast milk in neonates and throug h transfusion of infected blood. I hope this information helps you get rid of the anxiety as your contact was not risky. Although a condom protects against HIV, there is still a risk of other STDs like genital herpes, syphilis and genital warts. Therefore you must get yourself screened for these STDs at 12 weeks before you make sexual contact with your wife.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Regarding STDs

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
STDs like genital herpes and HPV can be transmitted through skin to skin contact during sexual intercourse. Since a condom covers only part of shaft of penis therefore there is a possibility that there was skin to skin contact between base of penis shaft or base of scrotum and vagina. That's why I said the a condom doesn't prevent from STDs like genital herpes and HPV. HIV is not a risk with condom protected sex because this virus is only transmitted through the mucosa of glans which is usually covered with a condom during sexual intercourse. Therrfore you should screen for STDs you are at risk for i.e genital herpes and Syphilis and rule them out first instead of risking your wife
Take care.
