Question: Dear Dr. Xhufka,

Thank you for the follow-up question. The cystoscopy did not go well. The doctor was not able to do the exam. I experienced intense pain instantly. So now I am scheduled to have a rigid cystoscopy under full anesthesia. I am still very apprehensive. I am afraid it will hurt more afterwards that the flexible.

I think is better to do it with general anesthesia.
Also keeping calm and being mentally prepared is advisable. I saw you very frightened in first procedure.

Feeling good emotionally and being optimistic can help you a lot in the process.
You can prepare yourself with a good mindset and also with atenolol before procedure to lower anxiety.

Also you may use antinflamatory drugs such advil for pain after procedure.

Also tricyclic antidepressants can be used for irritable overactive bladder.
