Question: Dear Doc,

I m M-48.

Since this evening I am getting twitches in my toe fingers. Sometimes left lef toe fingers sometimes right leg tow fingers.

Few days back I had taken Claribid 250 mg (Clarithromycin) - a total of 4 doses, as I had chest tightness (with no cough and no fever) and rough throat (with no pain or major discomfort).
But since 36 hours I have discontinued it as the firts night I felt numbness in my let arm and also felt sympotoms every time I took it. After leaving I am feeling much better. I have only taken acelofenac+paracetamol after that (1 or two doses).
Right now, I have no fever, little pain or anything, even there is no pain in chest. But this twitching is very upsetting. Can you help with your advice?

On 11th July, 12 mid-day (12pm) I had taken last dose of 250mg of Clarimythrocin. (Before that I had taken 3 doses at 12 hr interval). 11th late night I could not sleeo as I was uncomfortable as my left arm felt slightly numb and I could not rest it at any angle without moving it at a short durarion. Early morning on 12th I fell asleep but when I woke up I felt better with numbness gone. I felt better throughout 13th until evening when slight twitching started and that is when I contacted you. After I sent the mail, twitching lessened but the discomfort, slight weakness and numbness in arm started and I have not been able to sleep as I write this. Twitching is very infrequent now. How long do you think I should wait for Clarimythrocin effect to wear off. My left arm can work but I feel little less power in it. Also the first night that is 0n 9th July when I had taken Clarimythrocin 1st dose, I had woken up in morning to find my left had almost turned to jelly which came back to life after I walked around. But then I did not suspect as I thought it might be because I must have slept on it. Now my temperature, SPo2 Bpm is all fine. Again how long do you think it will take for effect to wear off from now, and is there anything I can take to sooth muscles as I have not been able to sleep. I have regular medicines available with me.

Sry, I had sent a follow up but for some reason it could not get posted.

Since then the twitch sensation and numbness has abated. The twitching is very ver rare. I did have panic dream attack day before yesterday night and I could nt sleep until 6 a.m. But last night I had a sound sleep. I got small fever (99.1 C) last evening and slight throat roughness. Right Now I do not have fever (98.6C) but throat is not that good. Slight discomfort in swallowing. Oxygen levels are 95 and pulse varies from 77-85 (I use a pulse oximeter).
Do you think I can take azithromycin or Amoxcillin for thoart and feverish that I feel (although I am not running temperature). In past 24 hours I have taken 2 dose of Paracetamol 325+Acelofenac 100?
