Could Stomach Ache At Night Followed By Dry Heaves And Tenderness In The Lower Abdomen Be Due To Appendicitis?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jan 2024
Question: I had a stomach ache after going to bed last night, which got worse and I had the dry heaves 4 or 5 times over the course of the night. Today I've had a lesser ache all day and tenderness in my lower right abdomen. Could this be appendicitis? The pain isn't severe except when pushing on that lower right where it is still just an ache. I'm 59, 20 pounds overweight and fairly healthy otherwise getting cardio and weight
training.

Brief Answer:
Diagnosis: Acute appendicitis

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The symptoms you are experiencing is suggestive of possible underlying appendicitis. Appendicitis pain is usually triggered by pressing down the right lower abdominal area. Blood investigations and CT scan of the abdomen are required to confirm the diagnosis. Please be advised to follow up with the emergency room as soon as possible for confirming the diagnosis and appropriate management thereafter.
