Could Ovary Pain Be Related To Perimenopause And Hormones Imbalance?
Question: I am a 47 year old woman who is in perimenopause. I have been having irregular periods since last year and blood test show hormonal imbalance. I had an ultrasound and D and C for endometrial hyperplasia which was deemed to be benign. For the past two cycles or so I noticed that I have been having ovulation type pain over my right ovary lasting from midcycle all the way through my period (it comes and goes). In the past I would have intense ovulation pain typically only in mid cycle. Could this ovary pain be related to perimenopause and my hormones

The pain in lower right side can be an ovulation pain. But usually such pain lasts only for a few hours. The persistent pain that you have is not likely to be due to hormonal disturbance either. This needs a detailed ultrasound scan specially when you are having the pain to find the cause. A renal stone or endometriosis needs to be ruled out.

Thanks for the reply. As long as I can remember my ovulation pain at time could last for days. I have had numerous ultrasounds with nothing detected. Could my endometrial hyperplasia cause pain?

Endometrial hyperplasia is associated with heavy bleeding. It does not cause pain without bleeding. It can cause menstrual cramps. If nothing has been detected on multiple ultrasound scans then it can be ovulation pain. You can take a mild pain killer like acetaminophen for relief.
