Question: I have to take 2000 mg of Amoxicillin for dental work due to my hip replacement surgery. Yesterday was my first experience taking that med. Today I have been bothered with heartburn that is worse than usual and not helped with Zantac or Omeprazole. Could the high dose of the antibiotic be causing that?

The heart burn that you have can be the side effect of the antibiotic. To relieve the heart burn it is best to have antacid every 3 hours till the heart burn is controlled. You need to have bland easy to digest food.
Better to have more of salads and fruits to relieve the heartburn.
