I had a follow up CT scan of my chest and it showed: a Stable 5mm noncalcified pulmonary nodule, left apex, probably benign nodule. No new pulmonary nodules demonstrated. Some linear areas of atelectasis or scarring in perihilar regions and bilateral lower lobe regions. No airspace consolidation. No pleural thickening. No pleural effusion.
Unenhanced mediastinum essentially unchanged without atlhlerosclerotic disease noted. Chronic-appearing findings osseous structures. Aorta Endograft incompletely visualized. Small right renal cyst noted.

Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.

Atherosclerosis - is a condition of arterial hardening that happens due to deposition of fat in the arterial walls. Yes, smoking is certainly a causative factor. Mediastinum is the area between the lungs that is place to visualize the arteries and veins feeding and draining the lungs.

Osseous - means bone like. It is a term used to describe any structure that undergoes abnormal calcification after the body's normal healing process due to deposition of calcium abnormally. As this happens over a long period - chronic is the word to describe its incidence.

My suggestions - Its good for you that you have indeed stopped smoking and this may be the reason why in spite of that benign nodule in the lung your arteries have come out clean without any atherosclerosis. I see also that your compliance to all the inhalation therapy is well. So, apart from those benign nodule in lung and benign cyst in kidney - You should also get a overall body check to assess for eg your cardiac status. This is important as the breathlessness cause needs a good look apart from the lung causes. As conditions of the heart which is in close connection with the lungs in the body also may contribute to your breathlessness.

Let me know if I have missed out any other concern in your question.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.
